Guru bhai

Well, u guessed it right! Went for the movie "Guru" - A Mani Ratnam film. How much ever Mani Ratnam denies that the story is not inspired by late Mr.Dhirubhai Ambani, the film unveils itself in front of u.

Without second thought i can say; the film is worth watching. A handful of commendable performances at least needs a special mention. The music might not be the best of AR Rahman; but is melodious. Abhishek steals the show portraying the protagonist of the movie, Gurukant Desai aka Guru bhai. His acting career which has started moulding to proper shape by "Yuva" gets reinforced with an even better performance this time; both by the same craftsman.

Talking of films based (or inspired) by real life people, one cannot forget the masterpiece version made by the same director, "Nayakan" (which was based on the story of Don Varadarajan). Is it worth comparing Velu Naaykkar & Gurubhai? Certainly not! For n number of reasons. If Mani Ratnam was clear abt Velu Naaykkar and his stands, that is certainly what he lacks in giving Gurukant Desai. He takes a safe stand; neither supporting the ways of Gurubhai completely, nor criticising him enough. Needless to mention the class act by Kamal Haassan which won him a national award. And i dont dare to compare it with Guru-bhai. The second half of the movie is slightly dragging with so many "incidents woven into it" rather than creating a smooth flow of events. Vidya Balan was restricted to wheel-chair:(; but her character being brought to an end when the story was going somewhere else seemed totally unwanted.

As a matter of fact, i was highly skeptical abt publishing this post. The idea of writing a review for the film was not something that defines my taste. But when i started writing, it neither became a review, nor a briefing. It became more of a comparison.:)Intentions....I intended to do some thing and it turned out to something else. Since, i hav taken so much of pain & time to key down so much words, thought i wud rather post it. ;) Hope i will have something better to say next time!

Suggestions, comments, brickbats, accolades,....everything is welcome...but please do choose one among them only; dont go for "None of these"!! :):)

Bole toh...blog no.1

Blogging!!! Its been a while since i hav been thinking seriously of getting into it...May be its already late..But better late than never, rt?....Let me tell u a few facts before i proceed:
I am neither an avid reader nor do i hav the magnetism to make ppl glued to my scripts.
But still, i wud like to pen...
What shud i write abt??
Nah! i corrected myself! Abt what shud i not write?? That makes better sense, i believe.
Lemme start with the name of blog which, probably, wud be one of the obvious things to say at this point of time. I had been in the quest for a name which 1.shud be a fancy name, 2. shud not be an utter nonsense, even if it doesnt make complete sense, 3.shud hav something related to me (of course, this one has my identity tailored to it in a realistic way). This one came up by chance. Not to mention it doesnt make much sense. But i felt a liking for it. And too lazy to keep the thinking process going (in search of a name!!!), i thought of adopting it!
My thoughts, deeds, habits, interests, hobbies, words, desires, friends, crushes (crashes might be the right term:)), etcetera, etcetera...."Maneesh-isms" is made up of all these and more(??). Twenty four years into this world, it had never occured to me of writing a personal journal. Glimpses of all these "past" years (in bits and pieces) might feature occasionally (i think so). With focus on present, let me embark on my journey of blogging. Hope i dont end up taking u to a complete boredom!
Dear reader, please pour in ur comments, my food for thought!!!
