My Sassy Girl

Last Saturday, when switching channels, I came across this movie in Star Movies - My Sassy Girl, a romantic comedy movie. It’s bloody good!!! I fall in the category of people who have watched very few English films. If someone asks me which my favorite English movie is, all I need to do is to choose between Titanic and The Jurassic Park. I find it painfully difficult to follow when there is limited lip-movement (Does that take so much effort to move your lips apart and talk more clearly?). Now that most of the English movie channels provide ‘English’ subtitles, it is a lot easier for lesser mortals like me! At least it encourages me to watch English movies without the natural feeling to gaze away from those channels.

Back to the topic! I liked the movie a lot. I even watched it when it was telecast again at 1.00 am the following day. Later, I came to know that the English movie (starring Elisha Cuthbert & Jesse Bradford) was a remake of a South Korean movie. (I’ve to watch that one!) I also hear that the Hindi movie ‘Ugly Aur Pagli’ is its Bollywood adaptation (Don’t know how far it is correct).

The movie had lot of interesting, catchy dialogues. A few of them as I remember; (the wordings might not be exact though):

“Sometimes you choose a relationship, sometimes they choose you.”

“Destiny is to build a bridge to the one you love.”

(And this is the best!)

“Once in your life, if you are lucky, you will meet someone who divides time; the time before you met her, and the time afterwards.”

Sometimes, movies reflect life; sometimes, life itself seem to be a reflection of movies.

So when am I going to meet “my sassy girl”? Or, will I ever get to meet her? (even a not-so-sassy girl would be delighting!)

No, I suppose...

Noodles!

January 16, 2007,
January 28, 2007,
January 21, 2009.

All of my previous posts were written in January. The first month of a year; one would put-in conscious effort to work-out-the-resolutions before setting it aside as a resolution for the next year. But that had not been the reason with me. In fact, I did not have any; it has just been a coincidence! Nevertheless, I’m going to break the jinx this time. I don’t want to wait until next Jan.

Recently, I had to try a hand a cooking. I was put up in an apartment in Tokyo for sometime. “Either I prepare my food, or I will have to give in to Japanese dishes!” I’d planned to try out at least a few simple recipes; I came all prepared, after all! Sure enough, it won’t take long to develop a liking for Japanese food after tasting my dishes!! :-)

Day 1, 7:30 am:
After pressing ‘snooze’ button the umpteenth time, I managed to wake up. It’s really late! I don’t have enough time to prepare anything other than noodles. At least, my food will be ready in 2 minutes!!! I can’t prepare anything else so quickly.

Anyways, I started with a black-tea. Thank God, I had some teabags! :-) I kept water to boil, caught hold of one of the noodle packets and started reading the instructions upfront (Needless to say, that was my first attempt with noodles as well :-) ). I finished my tea quickly and started with morning chores.

8:15 am:
There! I open the first packet of noodles. I follow every bit of instruction printed and wait for it to be ready. It seems to take much longer than expected. I realize that I’d added almost double the quantity of water than the proportion needed. The eternal wait continued, until I completed preparing my 2-minutes noodles in 20-minutes!

Not bad, I thought, I still ended up with something edible! Two-minutes would be under test/ideal conditions; you hardly expect such performance real-time, the software engineer in me consoled! :-)

PS: Contrary to my announcement in the previous post to key-in reminiscence of 2008, I've posted a different recipe now! ;-)

Resurgence

The inactivity at blogging lasted quite long. This is a revival for my blog (as if people are waiting :)). Of late, I have been thinking of getting it started all over again. Today, 23 months and 23 days after my last write-up, my blog returns to life, in high spirits, and breathing fresh with energy.

Whatever, the past two years had been wonderful (not to mention that it applies to the preceding ones as well). There has been (at least) a couple of (landmark?) things that happened in 2008. So I'll start my comeback to blogging with a brief recollection of 2008.
